Joan Rivers booted from British TV over curse word

LONDON — Joan Rivers' salty tongue got her booted from a British daytime talk show in the middle of its live broadcast.

Rivers used two expletives while talking about Russell Crowe as a guest host on the live gabfest "Loose Women." She was asked to leave during a commercial break.

The 75-year old comedian said in a statement Tuesday she was sorry for the swearing, and assumed that a censor would be able to "bleep" the words out.

Then she cracked wise, saying the incident reminded her of her wedding night — because she was asked to leave in the middle of that, too.

University offers reward for artworks

The University of British Columbia is offering a $50,000 reward for the safe return of 15 gold objects recently stolen from its Museum of Anthropology (MOA). On Tuesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that "a substantial reward" will also be offered by the university's insurance company.

Twelve of the pieces were created by the late Haida artist Bill Reid. The combined value of the missing artworks is estimated at $2 million.

"The theft of these art objects is a loss of cultural patrimony for the whole of Canada," MOA director Anthony Shelton said in a news release. Reid (1920-1998) is one of the region's most acclaimed artists, known for helping resurrect traditional Haida symbolism and art forms. He made exquisite jewelry as well as larger sculptures in wood and bronze.

Thieves broke into the museum between closing time May 23 and the next morning and took the items.

Police have not released further information on the break-in.

Also stolen from the MOA were three pieces of Mexican jewelry -- a bracelet and two necklaces made of gold coins.

Ashlee Simpson Plans To Change Name To Ashlee Simpson-Wentz

Ashlee Simpson will change her name to Ashlee Wentz, according to People magazine.

The singer, who married Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz on May 17at her parents' home in Encino, California, is quoted in a story on People.com saying that she'll now be known privately as Ashlee Wentz, and professionally as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. She's making the change because "I think that that's something that a woman should do when they're marrying a man," she told People. "It's a tradition that I think is great."

According to the article, Wentz said that while he left the name-changing decision to his wife, he's more than flattered she chose to take his name.

"The Wentz family, our Christmas card just got upgraded!" he told the magazine. "It feels insane. It feels unreal."

So does this mean the pop star's next album will be credited to "Ashlee Simpson-Wentz"? A spokesperson for the couple did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter, but we did manage to get a response from Wentz himself, who sort of confirmed the name change in an e-mail.

"Yeah, I think it's true," he wrote. "I wasn't there when Ash was talking, but on my side it is [true.]"

Whether she becomes Simpson-Wentz or not, Ash's name change is just the latest in an ever-growing list of tabloid-topping instances involving the couple. They first announced their engagementvia a blog post on FriendsOrEnemies.com back in April, and when rumors that Simpson was pregnant began to spread, Wentz e-mailed MTV News to deny them. Then, just two weeks ago, reports began to swirlthat the couple were planning a quickie marriage in order to evade paparazzi. Those reports, of course, turned out to be true.

Halle Berry Doesn't Want To Be A Sex Symbol

Halle Berry is looking forward to getting back to work, because she feels her new role as a mother will wash away the sex symbol status and gain her more chances landing Oscar-winning roles.

Having already won an Academy award for her role in Monster’s Ball, the actress is hoping being a new mother to two-month old Nahla Ariela will open the door to more adventurous movie offers.

She says: "I feel having a baby will open up a whole new world for me. I think I'll actually find better roles, because I've gotten past being the ingenue and sex symbol."

But studio bosses will have to get used to a harder-to-come-by Berry - she plans to take much longer gaps between jobs, so she can be a proper mother.

The 41-year-old adds: "I'm definitely going to work less. I used to put so much pressure on myself to succeed that it often made me very unhappy in my personal life. I felt on the verge of burning out three or four years ago."
